DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria has condemned the unacceptable stance adopted by the leadership of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva towards the crime committed by the terrorists in Aleppo against a Russian field hospital that killed two Russian female doctors and destroyed the hospital that was offered by the Russian government to provide assistance to wounded people in the city.
In a phone call with Marianne Gasser, the head of the International Committee of Red Cross in Syria, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad said the statement issued by ICRC doesn’t reflect the essence and text of Geneva agreements and the Humanitarian International Law.
“Such ICRC’s statements has nothing to do with the neutrality and honesty which this organization enjoys. They are unacceptable, unjustified and misleading and they cover up the crimes of the terrorists and their intentional attacks on medical institutions, al-Mikdad said.
He added that the Syrian government condemns the destruction of hospitals and the killing of doctors who do their humanitarian missions with complete responsibility and neutrality.
Targeting a Russian field hospital by the terrorists and their operators is an intentional planned criminal act. It is an ethically and humanitarianly condemned act for which the countries supporting terrorism and their tools in the region should be blamed, according to al-Mikdad.
He pointed out that this terrorist act reflects these countries state of panic caused by the rapid collapse of their mercenaries in Aleppo eastern districts and other places across Syria due to their defeat in the battle with the Syrian army.
