Putin: Attempts to Create Unipolar World Failed

MOSCOW- Russian President Vladimir Putin said he could see the current geopolitical situation changing, as attempts to establish a unipolar world have failed, RT reported.

“I believe that it is not a secret, everyone can see, that many of our partners prefer to refer to the principles of the international law, because the balance of power in the world is gradually being restored,” he stressed in an interview with Russia’s NTV channel.

“But this is inevitable! Attempts to create a unipolar world have not succeeded. We are living in a different dimension. Russia has always held this point of view – that, while protecting our national interests, we must respect the interests of other countries. So, this is the way we establish relations with other countries,” the Russian President clarified.

Earlier this week, during his annual address to Russian lawmakers, Putin said that Moscow is ready to cooperate with the new US administration, stressing, “we have a shared responsibility to ensure international safety.”

He also said that Russia is ready to participate in solving global and regional crises when necessary.

“We understand the extent of our responsibility and are sincerely willing to take part in solving global and regional problems, of course, where our involvement is appropriate, necessary, and in demand,” the president stated.
