Syrian-Iranian Relations Constantly Growing

DAMASCUS-Speaker of the People’s Assembly (PA) Hadiyeh Abbas has stressed that the Syrian-Iranian relations are constantly growing, pointing to close parliamentary cooperation between the PA and the Iranian Shura Council for further enhancement of relations.

During her meeting Saturday with Secretary General of the Iranian Workers’ House Alireza Mahjoub, who is member of the Iranian Shura Council, and the accompanying delegation, Abbas expressed the Syrian people’s appreciation for Iran’s support for Syria against the global war waged against the country, underlining the necessity of developing the work of the Syrian-Iranian joint friendship committee, SANA reported.

 Abbas also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation relations between trade unions in Syria and Iran to back up the two countries’ economies.

Mahjoub, for his part, hailed the military successes of the Syrian army against terrorism, echoing Abbas’s interest in developing bilateral parliamentary relations between Syria and Iran.

He revealed that “fruitful and constructive talks” were held with the Syrian General Federation of Trade Unions which were marked by mutual agreements on a variety of topics.

In a statement to journalists following the meeting, Mahjoub said that the meeting with Dr. Abbas dealt with various topics with regard to developing parliamentary Syrian-Iranian relations and the mechanisms of supporting trade unions in the two countries.

Chairman of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) Jamal al-Qadiri said the two sides agreed on the necessity that Syria benefits from the Iranian expertise in supporting the Syrian army’s injured personnel and workers, clarifying that the two sides agreed on inaugurating an establishment “to tap into the expertise of the Iranian Martyrs’ Foundation which provides services for the war wounded.”

He revealed that a Syrian technical delegation will visit Iran soon to have a closer look at this experience.

Prime Minister meets Iranian delegation

Earlier, Prime Minister Imad Khamis met Mahjoub and the delegation accompanying him.

Khamis expressed the Syrian government’s appreciation of Iran’s supportive stance towards the Syrian people that has helped them face the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the country.

He highlighted the importance of further boosting the special relations binding Syria and Iran, including in the economic, trade and development fields, focusing on starting joint projects that are beneficial to both sides.

On his part, Mahjoub said he values the high morale of the Syrian people and their confidence in achieving victory, referring to the special relationship between the Syrian General Federation of Trade Unions and the Iranian Workers’ House.

Iranian Delegation visits injured army personnel

The guest Iranian delegation also had the opportunity to visit injured personnel of the Syrian army at Martyr Yusuf al-Azma Hospital in Mezzeh area in Damascus.

‎‎The Workers’ House is the Iranian de facto national trade union center affiliated with the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU). It oversees and coordinates activities of Islamic Labor Councils.

In a statement to SANA, Mahjoub, said the visit aims at conveying a message of love and solidarity from the people and leadership of Iran to the Syrian people.

The message is also one of appreciation of the sacrifices made by the Syrian people in defense of their country against the terrorists.

Afterwards, the delegation members organized a blood donation drive at the Blood Bank in Mezzeh in expression of their loyalty to the Syrian Arab Army.
