Syria Was One of the Most Advanced Countries in the Middle East

KIEV, (ST)- Syria’s rejection of foreign dictates and its independent political policy have exposed it to conspiracies by foreign sides that have allowed thousands of mercenary terrorists to enter Syria and have supported and armed terrorist groups for certain political agendas, according to Head of the Syrian-Ukrainian Friendship Association Anatoly Domanski.

In a speech during the opening of the association’s annual meeting in Kiev, Domanski talked about Syria before the crisis, pointing out that it was one of the most advanced countries in the Middle East in terms of infrastructure, agriculture, industry, security and stability.

Domanski urged his country’s officials to adopt a clear stance on terrorism in Syria, expressing hope that the association’s next meeting will coincide with the Syrian peoples’ celebrations on  victory over terrorism.

On his part, head of the Syrian diplomatic Mission in Ukraine Hassan Khaddour said the terrorist war on Syria was waged because of its independent decision and of its insistence not to concede its sovereignty and dignity.

“Syria is fighting terrorism, the enemy of all peoples of the world,” said Khaddour, clarifying that  “terrorists in Syria have come from more than 80 countries, they have targeted universities, schools, hospitals and infrastructure and they used civilians as human shields, particularly in Aleppo eastern neighborhoods.”

He reiterated that Syria will triumph over terrorism thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian Arab Army and the support of Syria’s friends and allies.

Participants in the association’s meeting voiced their solidarity with and support for Syria in the fight against terrorism, stressing their confidence in the Syrian army’s victory over terrorism soon.
