Syria Strongly Condemns ISIS Terrorist Attack in Iraq’s Babil Province

DAMASCUS- Syria denounced in the strongest terms the terrorist attack launched by ISIS on buses carrying visitors in Iraq’s Babil province, affirming its confidence that victory over terrorism, criminals and their supporters will not be far, SANA reported.

An official source at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry told SANA on Friday that the Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack launched by ISIS on busses carrying visitors returning from religious places in the province of Babil to Baghdad, claiming the lives of more than 100 innocent people of various nationalities and injuring many others.

The source said that such a terrorist act by ISIS reflects the state of defeat that befell this organization as a result of the accomplishments achieved by the Iraqi army and the Popular Mobilization Forces of Iraq in the battle to liberate Mosul, as well as the defeat of the countries and parties which fund and support terrorist groups and cover up their massacres, including the regimes of Riyadh, Doha, Ankara and some Western capitals.

The source added that the Syrian Arab Republic offers condolences to the victims’ families and affirms its confidence that victory over terrorism and its supporters will not be far thanks to the sacrifices of the Syrian Arab army and its allies as well as the Iraqi army and the Popular Mobilization Forces, noting that terrorists and their funders have no future in this region.
