“Hand in Hand, We Build Syria”

DAMASCUS-Under the motto “hand in hand, we build Syria”, activities of the 2nd Investment and partnership Conference, organized by the businesswomen’s  Committee at Damascus Chamber of Industry kicked off on Tuesday at Damascus-based Dama Rose Hotel.

The Conference coincides with the opening of the 3rd International Exhibition on Companies and Businessmen’s services (SERVICES), according to SANA.

Industry Minister Ahmad al-Hamo noted that despite the massive destruction of the majority of productive and services’ sectors due to terrorist attacks against public and private industrial facilities, the situation of the Syrian economy is still reasonable and such investment opportunities are large during this stage.

 He underlined the key role of the private sector as a real partner in the reconstruction process in order to develop the national industry, calling upon all parties to invest in economic, agricultural, industrial, services and tourism sectors through establishing private or joint projects or taking part in the public sector’s rehabilitation of terror-affected companies.

In turn, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Adib Mayaleh indicated to the government’s efforts to encourage investment projects and bring technology into Syria, adding that investment still exists as well as exports and industry.

He called upon businessmen to make use of investment opportunities in Syria.

Chairman of Damascus Chamber of Industry Samer al- Debs said the conference provides clear evidence on the recovery of the Syrian economy, calling upon investors, expatriates and the friendly states to take part in rebuilding Syria and make use of investment opportunities.

The conference includes presentations by the ministries of Tourism, Industry, Electricity as well as the investment and real estate bodies on supporting local production and export promotion in addition to dialogue and discussion sessions on obstacles to investment, proposals and solutions.
