Al-Mikdad in Tehran for Talks with Zarif on Syria

TEHRAN, (ST)- Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad is due on Monday to hold talks with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on developments in Syria, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Center for Media Diplomacy.

 The Iranian News Agency IRNA quoted the center as saying that al-Mikdad was to arrive in Tehran Sunday night leading a delegation to take part in the meetings of the joint political committee.

Al-Mikdad’s visit comes at the invitation of Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Jaberi Ansari, the agency reported.

Syria and Iran agreed on holding the meetings of the joint political committee during Ansari’s latest visit to Damascus last September. During the visit ansari held talks with Syrian officials on enhancing bilateral ties.
