Rouhani Congratulates Aoun on His Election as New Lebanese President

 

Tehran – President Hassan Rouhani in a message on Wednesday congratulated Michel Aoun on his election as new Lebanese president.

Undoubtedly, such election was a symbol of resistance and unity of the Lebanese nation, Rouhani said in his message.

Also, he added, it would be promising move to flourish Lebanon and make it strong in dealing with the regional and internal affairs.

Further, the Iranian President hoped the two countries would strengthen relations during the new tenure more than ever.

 

Rouhani, at the end of his message, wished prosperity and success for the newly elected President Aoun and the Lebanese nation.

Lebanon’s parliament on October 31 elected Michel Aoun, a member of parliament and a former army commander, as the country’s 13th president.

Election of Aoun as president puts an end to a political stand-off caused by Saudi intervention that had left the post empty for more than two years.

Michel Aoun received 83 votes out of the total 127 votes cast to become president.

Aoun election crucial for resistance against Zionist regime, says Amir Abdollahian

Majlis Speaker’s Special International Affairs Advisor Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Wednesday that no doubt election of new Lebanese President Michel Aoun will play a very significant role in resistance against Zionist regime and bolstering of stability and security in the region and fight against terrorism.

In a meeting on Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian congratulated visiting Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Fadi Haj Ali on sound political trend in Lebanon and election of the country’s president.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always closely followed up developments in Lebanon, he said

Liberation of Mosul is now underway with collective contribution of army, government and all groups and is to bear fruits in the near future, Abdollahian said.

Lebanese ambassador for his part said the Islamic Republic of Iran is a big and significant country and has always backed oppressed nations.

Lebanese businessmen are eager to have a very close economic cooperation with Iran, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is a powerful and stable country in the region and the world, he said.

Designation of Ali Larijani as head of Iran-Lebanon parliamentary friendship group indicates the profound ties between the two sides, he said.

Larijani congratulates new Lebanese president on election

Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri on Wednesday congratulated him on election of Michel Aoun as new Lebanese President.

In the telephone call, Larijani said no doubt, the wisdom and rationality of the Lebanese parliament and its representative have left vital impact on resolving the problem with election of the Lebanese president.

The election of the new Lebanese president truly reflected the message of unity among resistance forces and the historical election will leave positive impact on Lebanon and the region, Larijani said.

Iranian government and Majlis back Lebanese nation and resistance in fight against the Zionist regime and Takfiri terrorism, Larijani said.
