Promotion of Syrian-Indian Investment Relations

NEW DELHI, (ST)– Indian Ambassador in Syria Manmohan Banote called companies and businessmen in India to invest in Syria and benefit from the current available opportunities.

During a ceremony held by the Syrian Ambassador in India Dr. Riad  Abbass, Mr. Banote pointed out that there are real opportunities of investments in several economic sectors in Syria expressing his readiness for cooperation and coordination with bodies concerned in Syria that contribute to enhancing work in the standing projects and establishing new ones.

 He also said that there is a joint understanding between the two countries about the process of reconstruction in Syria.

It is worth mentioning that Syria-India cooperation relations include agricultural agreements and mutual scholarships. The Syrian Investment Commission suggested earlier the information of a joint economic committee between the two countries to study projects, investment opportunities and establishing a Syrian-Indian Business Council to discuss mechanisms of reactivating joint agreements and bilateral cooperation.

In a statement to local press, Dr. Abbass affirmed that the relations between Syria and India witness remarkable growth and the Indian government encourages investors to go to Syria to benefit from the available investment opportunities in the country.
