Syrian Students Participate in Excavation Mission in Hungary

Three Syrian post graduate students in Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Hungary have participated in excavation works to discover a historic church in Balaton Samash site, located south-west of Budapest.

This participation will provide them with good experience to take part in rehabilitation of historic site damaged during the ongoing war on Syria, according to head of the excavation mission in Hungary.

The site of the church was discovered two years ago and some parts of the church were discovered last year.

Last August, an exhibition on the Syrian Qalaat al-Marqab [Margat] kicked off in Rattskava city in Hungary in the presence of the Director of Cultural Relations in the Hungarian cabinet Mrs. Kotalin Shylock.

The 22-day exhibition held within the activities of the archeological conference being held in Esztergomcity includes the results of the joint Syrian-Hungarian mission operating in Qalaat al-Marqab [al-Marqab citadel], which is located near Baniyas city.
