West Should Stop ‘Putting Spokes in Wheels’, Join Moscow’s Anti-Terrorism Fight

The Russian defense minister urged to take joint actions against terrorists instead of “putting spokes in the partners’ wheels”.

MOSCOW – The prospect of launching a political process in Syria and returning the country’s population to peaceful life has been delayed indefinitely, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday, according to Sputnik.

“The prospect to begin a political process and bring the Syrian population back to peaceful life is being postponed for an indefinite period of time,” Shoigu said in a conference call.

The Russian defense minister added that concerted efforts were needed to eliminate terrorists in the war-torn country.

“To destroy terrorists in Syria, it is necessary to take joint actions instead of putting spokes in the partners’ wheels, because the rebels take advantage of that,” Shoigu said.

Over 2,000 ‘Moderates’ Shell Aleppo Using 45 Vehicles

the Russian Defense Minister also said that more than 2,000 so-called “moderate rebels” shelled residential areas of the Syrian city of Aleppo using 22 battle tanks, 15 infantry fighting vehicles, eight “jihad-mobiles” and rocket artillery.

“Most of the militants’ vehicles have been destroyed,” the minister underscored.

Shoigu said that eight humanitarian corridors are open for Aleppo residents to leave the embattled city but militants execute dozens of civilians daily for attempting to approach the passages.

“Is this the opposition with which it is possible to negotiate?” the defense minister asked.

He said the Russian Aerospace Forces have been grounded for 16 days.

“At the order of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces, we have not been using aviation in Aleppo for 16 days.”
