Terrorists Exploiting Truce in Aleppo to Launch Attacks on Civilians: Army Command

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  The terrorist organizations are exploiting the truce in Aleppo to escalate their attacks on civilians in the safe neighborhood of the city, according to the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces.

In as statement on Monday, the Army command said “Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization and allied armed groups continue escalating attacks on the city of Aleppo from several axes, exploiting the truce to launch wide attacks against schools and civilians in safe Aleppo neighborhoods.”

According to the Command, the terrorists have targeted Aleppo residential areas with more than 100 mortar rounds, 50 Grad rockets and 20 gas canister bombs in addition to sniper fire over the past three days, claiming the lives of 84 people, most of them women and children, wounding 280 and causing huge damage to public and private properties.

Yesterday, the terrorist went further in their escalation by firing shells containing Chlorine gas on the 1070 Apartments and al-Hamadaniyeh residential areas in Aleppo. The attack caused 48 suffocation cases among the people, the command said.

It reiterated that these criminal acts “affirms the disability, bankruptcy and inability of the terror groups to achieve their set goals”, pointing out that “such terrorist attacks won’t stop the Syrian state from implementing its constitutional tasks in protecting its citizens or weaken its determination to fight terrorism and rid the homeland from its evil.”
