MOSCOW, (ST)-Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad and his Russian counterpart Sergei Ryabkov on Friday discussed coordinating Syrian-Russian efforts to confront the danger of chemical terrorism. The two sides also discussed cooperation between Syria and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapon OPCW.
According to a Russian Foreign Ministry official statement, the two sides discussed the issues relating to the work of the Joint Investigative Committee (JIM) of the United Nations and the OPCW regarding the using of chemical weapons in Syria, particularly in the light of the latest JIM reports in this respect.
Al-Mikdad clarified that the terrorist organizations, with huge support by their operators in western countries and in some states in the region that provided chemical weapons and toxic materials to the terrorists, are the party that used chemical weapons and accused the Syrian government of using them in their anti-Syria propaganda.
He stressed that “Syria hasn’t and will not use any chemical weapons.”
Al-Mikdad hailed the Russian role in confronting the misleading campaigns launched by western countries and their tools in the region against Syria aiming to distort Syria’s image before the world public opinion.
