Scores of Innocent Civilians Killed or Wounded by Terrorists Explosion in Damascus
DAMASCUS,(ST)_ A terrorist bombing in al-Thawra street on the stretches of al-Mazra’ residential quarters in Damascus resulted in dozens of martyrs and wounded civilians, including children and school students, most of them are seriously wounded.
In a statement on Thursday , the Ministry of Health said that bodies of 53 martyrs and 235 wounded were admitted to public and private hospitals
The bombing which took place in a densely populated area , at the intersection of main streets resulted in killing or wounding scores of civilians motorists , pedestrians and school students and led to a fire in a large number of parked cars in the area.
The terrorist bombing also resulted in significant damage in al-Hayat hospital , Abdullah bin Zubair school and the burning of a large number of mini buses in the nearby garage station.
However, the security forces confiscated a car laden with barrels full of explosives at the site of the terrorist bombing in al-Thawra street and arrested the suicide bomber who was driving it .
Sources at the Red Crescent, Damascus and al-Mouasat hospitals said that scores of bodied of martyrs and wounded citizens were admitted as a result of the terrorist bombing.
In a statement to pressmen during a tour in Damascus hospital, to check on the wounded of the terrorist bombing, Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Naef said that the total number of wounded admitted to Damascus hospital reached 54 , many of them in critical condition and 31 martyrs .
The Minister noted that health centers in Damascus extended its working hours until eight o’clock in the evening to continue providing medical services to wounded citizens , including citizens suffering trauma as a result of the terrorist bombing.
Minister of Education Dr. Hezwan al-Waz said that terrorist bombing led to damage in some nearby schools especially in Abdullah bin Zubair private school where 3 teachers and 20 students were wounded , besides several employees in the second building of the ministry of education.
In statements to SANA citizen Salloum Depp, (68) , who was injured in the terrorist bombing , said “These are not the actions of human beings .. The terrorist who blew himself does not have a mind … What is the guilt of children, women and elderly people like me… They want to sabotage and destabilize Syria.”
The injured citizen Mohammad al-Horoub who was admitted to the Red Crescent Hospital said : ” These acts of sabotage aim at undermining the morale of Syrians and instilling fear in them to stop life in the Syrian street .. Despite my injury in the head I will walk every day in the streets of Damascus, no matter what they do.”
For her part, Umm Mohammed, the mother of the two wounded children, Tamer and Samer, al-Dahabi said: “What was made by these criminal terrorists can not be described … They want to prevent me from sending my kids to school … They can not … And my children will grow up to tell their comrades and their children on the work of those criminal terrorists.”
Very often, terrorists choose the time of their terrorist operations when workers go to work and students to their schools and universities and select residential areas of heavy traffic in order to cause maximum casualties.
On January 4th terrorists blew an explosive device in the Kassioun Gas Station near Hamish Hospital in Barzeh quarters in Damascus resulted in the martyrdom of a number of citizens and wounding several others and heavy material damage in the place and cars.
On December 1st, 2012, terrorists detonated a booby trapped car in al-Khazzan square in Eish al-Warwar in Damascus, resulted in killing three citizens including two children, wounding 35 and huge material damage in place.
In last November terrorists detonated a booby trapped car two explosive devices in the residential al-Zohour area in Damascus led to the martyrdom of 11 citizens and injuring dozens of residents .
On November 5th, 2012, terrorists blew a bomb reposed under a car in Mazzeh Mount 86 area in Damascus ,resulted in the martyrdom of 11 citizens and dozens wounded, including women and children, whereas, a large number of shops and cars were damaged.
Two booby trapped car explosions on May 10th, 2013 near Kazaz junction in a densely populated area resulted in killing 55 martyrs and wounding 372 .
On March7th, 2012 , two suicide bombings in al-Jamarek (Customs) Roundabout and the area linking Baghdad Street al- al-Kassa’a resulted in the deaths of 24 people , remains of another three martyrs while 140 civilians and the order keeping forces were wounded.
