DAMASCUS, (ST)- Information Minister Ramez Turjman has stressed that despite criticism, the Syrian media has managed to confront foreign-funded media empires led by Zionist-American forces through uncovering their lies and fabrications about events in Syria.
Turjman made the remarks during his meeting on Wednesday with participants in the specialized media course organized by the Revolutionary Youth Union (RYP) at al-Shabab Sport city in Damascus.
From the beginning of the crisis, the Syrian media took its position in the frontline to confront the heinous terrorist war on the country, the minister said, pointing out that many workers in the media sector were martyred while covering events in the country.
The minister added that the Syrian youths realize the importance of information in confronting the ongoing terrorist aggression against Syria of which major part has to do with information, hailing the youths potentials and enthusiasm to defend their country.
According to Turjman, the most difficult work lies in rebuilding Syria which is the responsibility of the youths in the coming era, stressing that focus should be made on social rebuilding.
He said all the youths can have the opportunity to show their abilities through electronic media which has been one of the up-to-date tools of the media war targeting Syria.
Participants in the course called for helping the youths, who are interested in information, receive training in national media outlets and take part in youth-related programs.
Talking to reporters, Information Minister affirmed the need to upgrade the performance of the Syrian media institutions and to strengthen them in the confrontation of the ongoing terrorist war on the country through holding training courses to develop the journalistic skills of youths and to produce well-qualified journalists.
Head of the RYU Ma’en Abboud thanked all national media outlets for their cooperation with the organization, noting that such training courses benefit the youths and reflect positively on their activities in the RYU.
