Russia: Analysis of US Data Reveals that Distinctions between US-Backed Groups and Terrorists Hasn’t Been Made
MOSCOW-The special representative of the Russian Defense Ministry Alexander Zorin told journalists on Friday that a preliminary analysis of the data, given by the US to Russia on the location of Washington-backed armed “opposition” groups operating in Syria, suggested that distinctions hadn’t been made between the US-backed so-called “moderate opposition” and Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists yet, Sputnik reported.
According to the agency, the US on Friday handed Russia data on the location of armed “opposition” groups operating in Syria for the first time.
“Russian officers have contacted representatives of Pentagon and the US special services in Geneva. We are examining the data related to the areas of operation of US-controlled armed groups, which we’ve received today,” Zorin told journalists. “But a preliminary analysis revealed that the distinctions between the group and terrorists hadn’t been made,” he added.
