Syria Categorically Denies Use of Toxic Gases in al-Sukkari neighborhood in Aleppo by Any Official Syrian Side
DAMASCUS, (ST)- The government of the Syrian Arab Republic categorically and absolutely denies the use of toxic gases in al-Sukkari neighborhood in Aleppo by any official Syrian side, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates stressed in a statement on Thursday.
The real perpetrator in all the cases which proved the use of poisonous gases in Syria is the armed terrorist groups by orders from their masters, the ministry added, pointing out that the aim of such allegations is to distort the achievements made by the Syrian Arab Army in its battle against the terrorist gangs across the country.
The ministry asserted that the armed terrorist groups and their masters and supporters in western and Gulf countries, intelligence bodies and media institutions have been keen on launching anti-Syria propaganda by fabricating baseless accusations on the use of toxic gases, like chlorine and other kinds of gas in many Syrian areas.
The statement went on to say that the terrorist groups used toxic gases in their attacks on Khan al-Asal in Aleppo in 2013, on Ghouta in Damascus in 2013, on al-Awameed area in Aleppo on August 2nd , 2016 and on al-Sukkari neighborhood in Aleppo on September 7th, 2016. They accuse the Syrian army of the attacks as to mislead the international investigation committees and drive their attention away from the real perpetrator of these crimes.
According to the ministry, the government immediately made contacts with the Aleppo health directorate which in turn confirmed that no emergency cases for people suffering injuries resulted from exposure to toxic gases had arrived to the hospitals.
Syria believes that the use of chemical weapons by whoever, at any place and under any circumstances is unacceptable, said the ministry.
While condemning the use of the toxic gases against the Syrian people by the terrorist groups and their masters, Syria reiterates its readiness to cooperate with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and with its delegation which is currently in Syria to investigate into these crimes, the ministry added.
