Process of Local Reconciliations Accelerating in Several Syrian Areas

 DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST)- Governor of Damascus Countryside Alaa Munir Ibrahim has stressed that the process of local reconciliations has notably accelerated in several Syrian areas, pointing out that the town of al-Moaddamiyeh, and several other cities and towns will witness reconciliation agreements soon.

The Governor made the remarks as he was following up the process of transporting some 303 people, who left the city of Daraya to al-Moaddamiyeh town, to the makeshift center set for them in Harjalleh area in Damascus countryside.

“Today we are carrying on the implementation of  the agreement reached in Daraya to evacuate civilians and gunmen from the city. We are evacuate 303 persons from the people of Darya city, including 62 militants who want to settle their legal status and take advantage of the amnesty decree No. 15 for 2016, ” the Governor said.

 Ibrahim went on to say that a committee comprising concerned ministers and officials in the Damascus Countryside governorate was formed to implement the government’s plan to rebuild what the terrorists destroyed in Daraya, noting that necessary designs are to be drawn up to start reconstruction as soon as possible.

Daraya city, located in the Western Ghouta of Damascus, was fully evacuated of arms and gunmen after a settlement agreement was reached on August 25.

The agreement was implemented over two days. A total number of 700 gunmen were evacuated. The militants, who had to lay down their medium and heavy weapons, were taken to the northern Idleb city along with their families.

Some 4000 people were also evacuated and relocated to the makeshift center in Harjalleh, which the Governorate of Damascus Countryside had prepared and equipped with all basic requirements.
