DAMASCUS, (ST)-Prime Minister Imad Khamis on Saturday met the visiting Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Mubashir Javed Akbar and discussed with him reactivating the Joint Syrian-Indian Committee to revive economic agreements and boost cooperation relations in support for development process in both countries.
The premier urged intensifying international efforts against terrorism, and thanked India for its support to Syria.
On his part, the guest minster affirmed his country’s keenness on boosting its relations with Syria and on maintaining security and stability in the region, stressing that Syria-India ties are based on cooperation and friendship.
Syria Ready to Cooperate with India in Terrorism Fighting
Minister of Foreign affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem also met Javed Akbar and stressed to him Syria’s readiness for cooperation and coordination with the Indian side in the area of terrorism fighting as both countries are facing same danger.
The Indian minister asserted his country’s rejection to foreign interference in other countries’ affairs and stressed that terrorism recognizes no borders. He reiterated India’s support for efforts aiming to reach political solution to the crisis in Syria by the Syrians themselves and in a way that preserves their sovereignty and unity.
