Iran Supports Iraqi National Unity to Combat Terrorism, Says Larijani

Tehran –Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that Iran supports Iraqi national unity to combat terrorism.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Barham Saleh.

Larijani said that Iraq is in dire need of national solidarity and consensus of all political parties on Constitution of Iraq to thwart menaces of terrorism.

The speaker of Iranian parliament said that now is the time that all Iraqi political parties to come together to defeat the terrorists in different area, including Mosul.

Larijani added that history of Iraq showed the peaceful co-existence of different tribes and religions and for sure, the divergent apparoch adopted by certain Iraqi parties would be to the detriment of national solidarity and standard of life.

Main problem of Iraq is fighting with Takfiri terrorists and hopefully after liberation of Mosul and defeat of terrorists in this region, stability and tranquility restored to Iraq.

Barham Saleh appreciated Iranian government and nation for supporting independence and consolidation of Iraq.

He said that Iran has always stood by the Iraqi nation in difficult times, so such humanitarian attitude will remain in memory of Iraqis.

In view of common interests of Iraq and Iran and their effective cooperation in fight against terrorism, Barham Saleh called for Iranian full support to the Iraqi government and people in fight against Takfiri terrorists.
