National, traditional songs performed in Aramaic language in Maaloula town

In the language of Jesus Christ, about 70 children and 30 youngsters performed national and traditional songs during a concert held Sunday by the Syrian Institute for Protecting Aramaic language (Aramea) in the ancient town of Maaloula in Damascus countryside.

The concert was held in the said town because its people are still using the Aramaic languages a living language, Director of Cultural Activities in the institute Ibrahim al-Shaer told the official news agency (SANA).

He underlined the need to protect the Aramaic language which dates back to thousands of years.

On his part, the institute’s chairman Jihad Zakhour said that the idea of establishing the institute is based on the need to protect the Syrian civilization which is being targeted by the armed terrorist organizations.

The “Aramea” Institute seeks to disseminate the Aramaic language and to shed light on the Syrian civilization and co-existence among the Syrian people.

Maaloula town was occupied by Takfiri terrorists from September 2013 till April 2014. And its people were displaced and their homes were damaged during that period.

Since 2011, a foreign-backed terror war has been waged on Syria targeting its army, people, civilization and infrastructures in accordance with the US-Zionist plot that aims to fragment the Middle East region and to control its wealth.

Tens of thousands of terrorists and mercenaries have come to Syria from more than 100 countries to fight against the Syrian army.

Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the U.S., France, Britain and Israel support – by all means-terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
