Some 1,000 Gunmen Turn Themselves in to Authorities in Daraa, Had Their Legal Status Settled

DARAA – Within the framework of the local reconciliations and benefiting from the amnesty decree no. 15 for 2016, the legal status of a number of wanted persons in Daraa and its countryside were settled, according to SANA.

A source in Daraa province said in a statement to SANA reporter that 1,000 persons from various areas in Daraa and its countryside had their legal status settled on Tuesday after they had laid down their weapons and turned themselves in to authorities, bringing the total number of the persons who have had their status settled on Monday and Tuesday to 2,000.

 The source added that the number is likely to increase, particularly after the issuance of the latest amnesty decree.

Earlier today, SANA’s correspondent in Daraa reported that 400 persons have had their legal status settled in Daraa and its countryside.

On a relevant note, terrorist organizations kidnapped on Tuesday a local reconciliations official in Daraa along with 14 armed persons to prevent them from turning themselves in to the army.

Local sources told SANA reporter that terrorists kidnapped Abdelkarim al-Amian, the local reconciliations official in Tal Shihab town in the western countryside of Daraa, and took him to Tafas city.

The source added that on Monday terrorists kidnapped 14 armed persons from al-Gharia al-Sharqia while they were heading for Daraa city to turn themselves in to the authorities in order to prevent them from returning to normal life.
