MOSCOW, (ST)- The Russian Government has decided to grant 278 scholarships to Syrian students who are willing to complete their study in Russian universities and institutes during the 2016-2017 study year.
The media office of the Russian Government’ Foundation for Academic and Cultural Cooperation said in a statement on Friday that ‘the foundation has decided to provide assistance to Syrian citizens who want to study in Russia,” clarifying that the foundation and Moscow University have organized meetings and interviews at the Russian Cultural center in Damascus with more than 300 students for this purpose. Some e-interviews were also conducted with students who couldn’t come to Damascus to attend the meeting at the cultural center, according to the statement.
The statement pointed out that a list containing the names of the nominees for the scholarships in Russia is being prepared based on the results of the interviews conducted in Damascus.
Most desired specializations for the Syrian students were mathematics, mechanical engineering, computer sciences, informatics, Physics, astronomy, biological sciences, Architectural Engineering, machinery industry and artistic criticism.
The total number of Syrian students who are willing to study in Russia reached 2000.
