Second new world films festival kicks off in Damascus

The second New World Films Festival kicked off Thursday at 5:00 PM [local time] in the Damascus Opera House.

A historic film about the life of the American black civil rights leader, Dr. Matin Luther King, who was assassinated on April 4th 1968 by a fanatic, was screened in the opening ceremony of the  festival, which will last till August 19th.

Three films are to be screened every day, according to the official news agency (SANA).

 

The 1st new world films festival kicked off last March where around 90 films were screened.

The festivals have been held by Ministry of Culture and the National Cinema Organization in cooperation with the Dar al-Assad for Arts and Culture.
