Coup, terrorism, Zionism, threats to global security: Official

Tehran– Iran sees the issues of coup, terrorism and Zionism as lethal poisons to stability and security of both world and region, advisor to foreign minister said.

Developments in Iraq, Turkey and Syria proved that people play very important roles in deciding for their fates and preserving their votes, Hossein Amir Abdollahian said, according to IRNA.

He further condemned the military coup attempt in Turkey on Friday, describing it as treason by some domestic elements secretly supported by foreigners.

Iran supports president and people of Turkey that is an important neighbor and strategic ally, said Amir Abdollahian describing such support as the one for democracy.

Recent Turkish developments indicated that tools such as ‘coup and terrorism are two sides of a coin’ that have targeted regional security, stability and welfare, the senior diplomat stressed.

In recent years, he added, Takfiri and Zionist terrorists with extensive help from foreigners have been taking measures to topple the legitimate Syrian government.

Tehran is against those measures saying they are the obverse of democracy and Syrians’ votes, he stressed.

Amir Abdollahian noted that Iran strongly supports Syrian president, army and nation in fighting against terrorists.

Iran believes that fight against terrorism will help bring security to the entire region, he noted.

Tayyip Erdogan and Bashar al-Assad are legitimate presidents of Turkey and Syria that have been elected by people’s votes, the diplomat said.
