VIENNA, (ST)-Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz has renewed his call for fighting terrorism at all levels as it has posed serious threat to Europe and the entire world.
Interviewed by the Austrian “Kronen Zeitung” newspaper published today, Kurz said “terrorism should be fought through an alliance that targets ISIS militarily in Syria and Iraq and through security and ideological pursuit of terrorists in Europe.”
He added that terrorist attacks in Paris, Nice, Brussels and other areas have proved that terrorism is spilling over towards Europe through immigration waves, pointing out that “weakening ISIS would alleviate the danger of terrorism on the European Union.”
“Some 10.000 people have left Europe to fight alongside ISIS in Syria and Iraq. These people would be the gravest danger threatening Europe if they return home,” the Austrian foreign minister said, stressing that their return will be a “dangerous challenge”.
He pointed out that “political Islam is also a danger as it leads to extremism,” urging the Europeans to reject it.
Kurz also warned the Turkish regime against exploiting the coup attempt in Turkey to justify practicing oppressive policies, urging for respecting the state’s sovereignty, law and democracy in Turkey.
