PARIS, (ST)- French MP Jacques Myard has stressed that his country’s Middle East policy has been ineffective, noting that France should seek restoring dialogue with Syria because the two countries are facing a common enemy represented by “ISIS” terrorist organization.
In a statement to Sputnik, Myard said “We can’t keep saying that Damascus is not our ally in the fight against terrorism,” affirming the need for the exchange of information between the Syrian and French governments in this respect.
“We know that Damascus can provide information that can help put an end to terrorist acts in France and Europe,” Myard said with reference to the terrorist truck attack that hit the French city of Nice on Friday and to other previous terrorist acts in France.
84 people were killed on Friday in Nice after a truck ploughed into a crowd celebrating the Bastille Day.
