Cementing ties between Syrians and Palestinians imperative, says Mikdad

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Fayssal Mikdad on Monday met with a delegation from the Palestinian Liberation Organization Executive Committee headed by Director of the Refugee Affairs Department  at the PLO’s Committee, Zakaraya Ibrahim.

Talks dealt with cementing  ties between the Syrian and Palestinian people and the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Syria.

“Syria will continue to back  the struggle of the Palestinian people to realize their legitimate aspirations, “underscored Mikdad, noting that much of what is happening in Syria currently is due to its support of the Palestinian cause and its position towards the Arab-Israeli conflict.

“Syria’s commitment to the Palestinian refugees, and they (Palestinians)should not be dragged into the current events in Syria, “underlined Mikdad.

For their part, the delegation members briefed Mikdad on the political and internal situation in Palestine, wishing Syria and its people progress, prosperity ,security and hoping that Syria will emerge from the crisis and remain a base of supporting Arab rights and causes, formost  the Palestinian cause.
