President al-Assad Receives Patriarch John X Yazigi

DAMASCUS, (ST) – President Bashar al-Assad on Monday received Patriarch John X Yazigi, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East.

President al-Assad congratulated Patriarch Yazigi on his inauguration as Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, wishing him luck in his new position and lauding the historic role of the Orthodox Church in spreading messages of amity, good and tolerance in the world in general and in Syria in particular.

President al-Assad hailed  the high national feeling  of the Orthodox Church and its fundamental  role in consolidating  national unity in the face of the attack targeting Syria which aims to disrupt  the unified Syrian fabric and values of co-existance.

For his part, Patriarch Yazigi expressed deep  confidence that Syria will emerge victorious from the ongoing crisisbeing experienced by the day.

Patriarch Yazigi stressed  the importance of Syrians’ adherence to their unity to achieve  victory.

“I hope that safety and security will prevail in Syria to the country for good and loving as it has always been and will remain,”underscored Patriarch Yazigi.

“All Syrians are one family and one  people whatever the  difficult the circumstances are,”underlined Patriarch Yazigi..
