Syria, Iran to Boost Parliamentary Cooperation to Push Ahead with International Action against Terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hadiyeh al-Abbas has stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with the Iranian parliament and with other parliaments of countries that back justice and reject terrorism in order to push ahead with international parliamentary action against takfiri thinking, extremism and terrorism. She has also called for adopting diplomacy and dialogue to solve disputes among countries.

 During her meeting on Thursday with Hussein Sheikh al-Islam, advisor of Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council for International Affairs, Abbas said constant coordination between the Syrian and Iranian parliaments is very important to serve the interest of the peoples of the two countries and to guarantee the rights of the peoples’ of the region.

The PA Speaker hailed Iran’s political and economic support for Syria, pointing out that “this support has helped the Syrian people withstand the unjust western sanctions”.

She affirmed that the victories being achieved by the Syrian Arab Army in cooperation with its allied and supportive forces in the fight against terrorism will lead to greater victories over terrorism.

Syrian people are known of their rejection to hegemony schemes

On his part, Sheikh al-Islam stressed Iran’s readiness to provide all necessary support to enhance the steadfastness of the Syrian people in the confrontation of the ongoing terrorist war against their country.

“No one can break the will of the Syrian people who are known of their rejection to hegemony schemes,” Sheikh al-Islam said.

He reiterated that “Iran will continue to back Syria in the battle to eliminate terrorism and in the reconstruction era”,

He pointed out that the Syrian-Iranian cooperation is deeply rooted and it will continue at all circumstances.
