JCPOA a Successful Experience of Iran-EU Constructive Dialogue

Tehran – Head of Majlis Center for Research studies Kazem Jalali described Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action as a successful experience of constructive dialogue between Tehran and the European states.

In a meeting with Member of European Parliament Richard Howitt on Sunday, he voiced the chamber’s support to dialogue, promotion of positive interaction and expansion of bilateral ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the European states.

Jalali also evaluated political and parliamentary communications between Majlis and European Parliament in promoting the atmosphere of mutual understanding as positive and useful.

He further noted, ‘We consider the existence of an independent, powerful and influential Europe beneficial to the global peace and security and welcome positive and constructive role of Europe,’ Jalali said.

The member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission referred to certain banking obstacles in the way of implementation of JCPOA, saying that Iran has fulfilled its commitments based on international law and regulations and now the US Administration should stop resorting to excuses and help full implementation of the nuclear deal.

As to the problems created by Daesh, Al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda and other Takfiri groups in the region, he said that effective fighting with the groups requires identification of their roots and financial resources.

Wahhabism underlies doctrines of the groups and it considers killing human beings as lawful and officially announces that Shia Muslims should be killed.

Jalali also contended that corruption of regional dictatorial regimes, lack of democratic governments and West’s double-standard policies regarding human rights are among the factors promoting terrorist groups in the Middle East.

Referring to massacre of Yemenis by Saudi Arabia, Tehran MP said that western states and international organizations have closed their eyes to human rights violations by the Saudis as well as their support to Daesh.

Howitt, for his part, expressed pleasure with his visit to Tehran, saying that his visit is aimed at exploring avenues for promoting relations between Iran and European Union in post-sanctions era.

European Union as one of Iran’s former commercial partners considers implementation of JCPOA beneficial for regional and international peace and welfare, especially following JCPOA, he said.

Howitt further noted that there were unfortunately misunderstandings between Iran and European and western sides, which should be removed in the wake of the atmosphere, emerged following the implementation of the JCPOA.

Increasing efforts in line with promoting mutual confidence-building and attempts to mutually implement the nuclear deal have left positive impacts on Iran-EU long-term relations.

He referred to his proposal to EP to establish specialized expert groups in a bid to help facilitate commercial conditions, hoping that this will be materialized in near future.

Howitt called for enhanced parliamentary and diplomatic shuttles between Iran and EP.

New US Congress approvals violating JCPOA, says Borujerdi

Head of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Parliament Aladdin Borujerdi called new US Congress approvals against Iran as violation of JCPOA.

He made the remarks in a meeting with member of European Parliament from Socialist group Richard Howitt.

The Iranian MP called terrorism as a danger for security and progress of all nations, saying that terrorism is an ominous phenomenon and has no limitations.

He said that in order to fight terrorism, international resolve must gain momentum.

He expressed sorrow for expansion of existing crises in the region and said that financial, military supports by some governments will enflame conflict in the region.

Borujerdi called for intra-Syrian talks as the sole solution for the crisis in Syria and underlined that presence of thousands of foreign terrorists from 80 countries in Syria have led to insecurity in the country.

The MP also underlined importance of regular consultations and talks between Iran and EP on different regional and international issues and campaign against drug-trafficking.

Richard Howitt expressed pleasure with nuclear deal between Iran and Group 5+1 and said that the agreement opened a new chapter for cooperation between the two sides and that the EU intends firmly to develop its political, economic and cultural ties with Iran.

He appreciated Iran’s moves in fight against terrorism and Iran’s experience in this concern as well as intelligence and security cooperation with European states may help very well to destroy the terrorist groups.

Howitt said that the EP approval condemned massacre of Yemeni people and oppressing Bahrainis, adding that the European Union has always been sensitive to human rights issues and consider continuation of conflict and bloodshed in the region as cause of insecurity.

He invited Borujerdi to pay a visit to Brussels, calling for continued bilateral and multilateral negotiations on different issues.
