ALEPPO, (ST)- At least 30 people were martyred and 140 others were wounded on Friday in rocket attacks by terrorist organizations on residential areas in Aleppo in violation of the US-Russian brokered cessation of hostilities agreement in Syria, according to SANA reporter.
An Aleppo Police Command source told SANA reporter that “the terrorist organizations randomly targeted the neighborhoods of al-Furqan and al-Faid as well as the university dormitories with tens of rockets, killing 30 people, including children, and wounding more than 140 others. Heavy material damage was also caused to the citizens’ houses and properties.”
On Wednesday, two children were martyred and 9 others were injured as two rocket shells hit al-Zahraa town and al-Masharqeh neighborhood in Aleppo.
The Russian Coordination center in Hmeimim has documented 762 violations of the cessation of hostilities agreement by the terrorist organizations since it came into effect on February 27th. Most of these violations were documented in Aleppo and Damascus.
The situation in Aleppo and the surrounding areas has deteriorated as terrorist organizations, including al-Nusra Front and its affiliated groups, have been intensifying shelling against the city’s residential districts over the past weeks, giving no heed to the cessation of hostilities agreement. The shelling led to the martyrdom of scores of innocent people, wounded hundreds of others and caused huge destruction to public and private properties in the targeted districts.
Syria repeatedly informed the United Nations and the Security Council about the terrorists’ crimes in Aleppo and other Syrian cities and urged deterrent action against the terrorist groups and their supporters, but the international community has so far done nothing about this.
