Number of breaches of cessation of hostilities rises to 749 after 4 new incidents

Lattakia – The number of breaches of the cessation of hostilities agreement rose to 749 after 4 new breaches were observed in the past 24 hours, SANA reported.

According to the Hmeimim-based Russian center monitoring the agreement, which came into effect on February 27, the four breaches were committed by the so-called “Jaish al-Islam” terrorist organization in Damascus Countryside.

The center explained in a statement on Monday that Jaish al-Islam terrorists targeted with mortar rounds positions of the Syrian army in the towns of Harasta, Erbin, Douma and Housh al-Fara.

The center stressed that no sorties were carried out by the Russian or Syrian air forces in the past 24 hours against positions of armed groups that announced their commitment to the cessation of hostilities agreement.

Referring to Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist groups’ continued attempts to undermine the agreement, the center said these groups used rocket launchers and mortars to shell the towns of Hteitet al-jarash, Harasta al-Qantara, al-Bahariyeh among other towns in Damascus Countryside, in addition to shelling al-Fouaa in Idleb and severl neighborhoods and al-Nairab airport in Aleppo.

The cessation of hostilities agreement is not applicable to ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra opr other groups designated internationally as terrorist organizations.
