The army foils ISIS attack in Raqqa, targets Jabhat al-Nusrea positions in Daraa

Provinces – Army and Armed Forces units continued carrying out counter-terrorism operations on Monday, foiling an attack by ISIS in Raqqa and destroying Jabhat al-Nusra positions in Daraa, SANA reported.

Raqqa

Army units in cooperation with popular defense groups clashed last night with terrorist groups affiliated to ISIS terrorist organization that attacked military positions in Anbaj and Zakiyeh/ Deir Hafer crossroad on Atherya / al-Tabqa road in the western countryside of Raqq province, a military source said.

 

The clashes ended with thwarting the attack in addition to killing and injuring scores of terrorists and destroying a number of their vehicles, arms and ammunition.

Daraa

Army and Armed Forces units destroyed mortar launchers, artillery, and a command center for terrorist groups affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra and killed a number of terrorists in Daraa al-Balad area in Daraa city.

A military source said that army units clashed with terrorist groups from Jabhat al-Nusra that tried to attack a number of military posts in Daraa al-Balad, killing a number of terrorists and injuring others.

Army units destroyed artillery for terrorist groups, killed a number of terrorists, and injured others in the southern side of Daraa city, southeast of Busra square, and north of the schools area in al-Naziheen Camp.

Army units directed intensive strikes at terrorists’ gatherings in al-Arbaeen neighborhood in Daraa al-Balad, destroying a command center and mortar launchers and killing a number of terrorists.
