Russian Soldier Dies of his Wounds from Suicide Attack in Syria

{jcomments off}MOSCOW-The Russian Defense Ministry announced that a Russian soldier has been killed in Syria as he was accompanying a Russian convoy handing out humanitarian aid in Homs countryside, SANA reported.

In a statement published by RT website, the ministry said that the soldier died of his wounds he suffered on June 15 as he attempted to prevent a suicide bomber driving a car rigged with explosives from reaching the site where humanitarian aid was being distributed.

  “The soldier was protecting an area where the Russian military was handing out humanitarian aid to locals in the Homs province on Wednesday and opened fire to stop a vehicle speeding up to the site. The car, rigged with explosives for a suicide attack, blew up, wounding the serviceman. He died the next day in a hospital,” added the statement.
