‘Qalaat Jandal’ Festival kicks off in Damascus countryside

Under the slogan “Our music sound will remain louder than the sound of their guns and our culture will remain stronger than their terrorism”, the 5th cultural festival of Qalaat al-Jandal [Jandal Citadel] kicked off Tuesday in Damascus countryside.

The festival started with a recital played by the orchestra of the Syrian Arab army will focus on patriotism, loyalty to martyrs and support for the Syrian Arab army that fights terrorism, according to the al-Thawra newspaper.

The paper quoted Governor of Damascus Countryside Hussein Makhlouf as saying that the festival enhances victories being realized against terrorist organizations nationwide.

In this context, the official news agency (SANA) reported that the week-long festival includes cultural activities, theatrical performances plus lectures on the importance of culture in peoples’ life.

Qalaat al-Jandal is located in Jandalvillage in Qatana area in Damascus countryside and it has been named after the Emir Jandal Bin Qais Bin Bani Kalb, who passed by the village in 1015 and ordered to rehabilitate it.
