2nd ‘Food sharing’ initiative launched

For the second year running, the Ministry of Social Affairs launches ‘Leqmetna Sawa 2’ initiative [Food sharing initiative] in order to distribute Iftar and Suhoor food to poor families in Ramadan month [Muslim holy month of fasting] to be started next week.

The initiative is being launched in cooperation with civil society and it targets martyrs’ families, displaced persons in shelters, students living in University City and persons living in social care institutes, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency indicated that nine charity associations participated last year in the food sharing initiative where thousands of displaced and poor persons received daily food parcels during Ramadan month in several provinces.

30.000 food parcels were distributed daily during the ”LeqmetnaSawa1′ initiative.
