Humanitarian, Development Activities to Support Rural Women in Homs Countryside

HOMS, (ST)-The Relief and Development Center at the Syriac Catholic Diocese has recently established a center to support rural women in al-Mizyena village in the western countryside of Homs by providing health and consultation services to women there free of charge.

Khaled Khalil, Director of the Center told SANA that the center “aims to improve the situation of women in the village, especially women affected by terrorism crimes.”  The center is currently holding several activities, including vocational training, sports and educational courses.

 Khalil clarified that the health section of the center includes a reproductive health clinic, while the consultation section have psychological and social advisory clinics supervised by a team of volunteer specialists. Khalil pointed out that the center is currently making awareness tours in the neighboring villages.

The Relief and Development Center of the Syriac Catholic Diocese was founded in 2003 in Damascus by a group of young people who believe in humanitarian work and aim to support people who are in need.
