Syria is Golden Ring in Line of Resistance, Says Velayati

TehranHead of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali-Akbar Velayati said on Wednesday that Syria is golden ring in the line of resistance, IRNA reported.

‘If Syria is disintegrated and its government falls and the Takfiris, who are linked with Israel, Saudi Arabia and the US, dominate the country, this will adversely affect both Lebanon and Iraq in practice,’ said Velayati.

Speaking to a group of Iraqi Ulema and thinkers, Velayati said the line of resistance starts from Iran and passes through Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Palestine.

He said that’s the line of resistance standing hegemony of the Zionists and their supporters who are Americans and certain western states.

‘So you and we should be serious about what is happening in Syria because if the government and nation of Syria are defeated by the Takfiris, they will take the next step in Iraq and Iran will not remain immune of their aggressions.’

Velayati said since the advent of Islam, the Iranian and Iraqi nations have stood by each other and they have not been separate.

The Iranian official said holy sites in Karbala, Najaf, Kazemein, and Samerra in Iraq is a very important factor for attention of Iranian people to Iraq.
