DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE– Under the directive of President Bashar Al-Assad, Prime Minister Wael al-Halaqi on Wednesday inaugurated Qatana National Hospital in Damascus Countryside with a total value estimated at SYP 2 billion.
The hospital, which provides services to the locals of Mount Hermon, Qatana and the surrounding areas, consists of four floors and a basement covering an area of 6000 square meters. It accommodates 60 beds, according to SANA.
It includes various specialized clinics and departments for emergency, gynecological surgery, general surgery, intensive care and hemodialysis.
In a statement following the inauguration, al-Halaqi pointed out that the government has prepared programs for the current period and plans for the future to improve the situation of the health sector until achieving health and medicine security and overcoming the repercussions of the terrorism war.
Work in Qatana hospital project was suspended in mid 2012 and was resumed in June 2015.
Last April, a number of development projects were inaugurated in Lattakia and Tartous with a total value estimated at SYP 37 billion. Al-Bassel Hospital in Deir Atiyyeh area was opened after being rehabilitated at a cost of SYP 750 million.
