The Only Solution to Overcome the Crisis Is National Dialogue: Jalili

DAMASCUS (ST)_ Secretary of Iranian Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili highlighted the role Syria played for decades in supporting the resistance.

Jalili, in a press conference on Monday, said that Syria is the staunch castle in the face of regimes which were pursuing the path of settlement with the Zionist entity.

He stressed that Syria is able to confront current challenges and any attack against the Syrian people thanks to is people awareness and army’s strength as well as its adherence to resistance policy.

Jalili asserted that Syrian leadership and people have defended their cause; therefore Syria will be exposed to the enemy’s schemes.

The Iranian official expressed trust in Syrian leadership’s wisdom in dealing with the recent Israeli attack that targets Syria’s leading role in resistance.

“The Zionist entity will regret its attack on Syria and that Syria is capable of facing current challenges and confronting any aggression that would target the Syrian people and the attack exposes the aggressive nature of [Israel] regime and its threat to the regional security and stability.” added Jalili

He restated that Iran highly appreciates the political plan outlined by President Bashar Al-Assad to resolve the crisis in Syria and the government’s efforts to implement it. Tehran is ready to help launch national dialogue as it is the only way to surpass the crisis in Syria.

Jalili added that the Islamic Republic of Iran had sought to minimize the suffering of the Syrian people who have suffered great pressure and sanctions as a result of the economic blockade.

Since the beginning of the crisis and due to own experience with the inhuman westerns blockade against Iran, we made diligent efforts to find ways to reduce these pressures on the Syrian people, underlined Jalili.

Jalili pointed out that the Islamic Republic of Iran will maintain communication with all spectra of the Syrian opposition who reject foreign interference, violence and militarization and who believe in a political solution and national dialogue.

“We don’t support the armed opposition which is wreaking havoc and devastation of the infrastructure and the economy, because we firmly oppose all forms of violence.” Said Jalili

In conclusion, he urged for a stop of bloodshed, as well as for ensuring the security, asserting that only political solution and national dialogue will carry Syria to the shore of safety.
