Iran Renews Support for Iraq’s Anti-Daesh Campaign

Erbil– Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad in a meeting with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani renewed Iran’s continued support for Iraq in the anti-ISIL war.

During the meeting in Erbil, discussed the most important issues of mutual interest, especially in the trend to fight Daesh (ISIS) in the northern part of Iraq, and also bilateral cooperation between Iran and the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

Barzani, for his part, appreciated Iran’s key and pioneering role in helping the Kurdish people of Iraq to suppress the ISIL terrorists.

‘Iran has played a very positive role during the ISIL attack on Iraq’s Kurdistan region,’ Barzani said.

Russia among target countries to boost scientific ties, says Farhadi

On the other hand in Tehran, Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mohammad Farhadi stressed the need for bolstering Iran-Russia cooperation, especially in humanities, saying that Russia is of Iran’s target states to boost scientific ties.

In a meeting with Russian president’s special representative in international cultural affairs, he expressed pleasure over the issuance of visas for faculty staff, describing it as a basic step to promote scientific cooperation.

Russia has been and is one of the target countries for scientific cooperation, the minister said, noting that for the same reason, a committee dealing with scientific cooperation with Russia has been set up earlier.

Farhadi stressed the need for promoting Russian language departments in Iran and Persian language departments in Russia, saying that currently, Russian language is taught in 10 Iranian universities and Persian language is also taught in three Russian universities.

Russian special envoy, for his part, said that his visit to Tehran is aimed at taking part in Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), adding that they are interested to promote Persian language in Russia.
