Lattakia, (ST) – With the participation of more than seventy companies from various provinces of Syria the Ugarit Modatex Exhibition of Fashion and Leather was opened at Lamera Hotel in Lattakia. The event was held by the Syrian Exporters’ Federation (SEF) in collaboration with the Association of Development and Support of Domestic Production and Exports and Latakia Chamber of Commerce.
The two –day exhibition includes Baby Lingerie, cotton clothing men’s underwear and women’s casuals as well as socks and shoes.
President of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Mohammed al -Sawah confirmed that the Syrian industries are recovering in all sectors, especially textile ones, and we have good alternatives to import whereas the Syrian industry is able to meet the needs of the local market and is continuing to increase, pointing to the export of Syrian clothing to neighboring countries despite great difficulties.
For his part Board Member of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Iyad Mohammed stressed on the importance of establishing a textile exhibitions in several provinces in order to restore communication between producers, wholesalers and retail, noting that the SEF seeks to promote Syrian products both internally and externally so as to contribute to the national economy.
Board Member of the Lattakia Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dr. Mohamed Sheikh Ibrahim explained that the Chamber encourages such efforts to the development of the industry and consumer profiles on the local product and its quality on competitiveness which will helps to alleviate the import and to save in foreign exchange in addition that the exhibition is considered a tourist attraction.
