Russia’s Putin Congratulates President Al-Assad on National Day, Vows Continued Support for Syria

DAMASCUS, (ST)- President Bashar Al-Assad on Monday received a cable of congratulations from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Syria’s National Day.

In his cable, President Putin affirmed his country’s determination to continue providing effective assistance to the Syrian government in the fight against terrorist organizations.

“Russia will keep supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian state and will continue to back political solution in Syria based on all-out national dialogue,” President Putin said.

President Putin, who hoped that the Syrian people will restore peaceful and prosperous life soon, expressed confidence that maintaining the Russian-Syrian friendship ties serves the essential interests of the peoples of the two countries.
