DAMASCUS, (ST) – Syria “Tech” Exhibition 2016 was opened recently in the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus. The event was held by the Ministry of Communications and Technology in cooperation with Syriatel Company and Mosaic Company for Exhibitions and Conferences with the participation of 30 local companies that manufacture and supply information technology and communications and educational scientific institutions specialized in this field.
In a statement to reporters, Minister of Communications and Technology, Dr. Mohammad Ghazi Jalali confirmed the importance of the exhibition, which shows the Syrian economic activities are still able to production and innovation, despite the crisis, pointing to the accession of new companies to the exhibition to show the latest innovations in the field of information technology.
Dr. Jalali explained that the information industry sector is vital to the economic development and the process of reconstruction and rehabilitation, which will include the rebuilding of information and communication systems, pointing out that the applications included in the exhibition will contribute significantly to this process.
For his part, Head of Media Department at Syriatel explained that the company presented three applications launched some time ago including “your guide to travel “to help the traveler to define prices outside Syria and the second application is “closer to you”, which gives full details of the data and ongoing calls consumption and the value of the invoice and the third application of “Music Lover” for lovers of music and songs which offers an interest to a wide range of subscribers.
For his part, Director of Mosaic Group for Exhibitions and Conferences Eng. Basel Shekhu stressed the importance of the exhibition in the collection of specialized information and communications technology companies after an absence of this kind of exhibitions to nearly five years in order to be submitted to those who are interested of all sectors to meet the development, services and needs and inform visitors on the latest companies in the field of electronic design, software and booking websites.
The three -day exhibition included lectures for the National Commission for Network Services and the Higher Institute of Applied Science, the search engine company Shamra, Tazamon Company for Communications and a number of other companies.
The exhibition aims to develop the IT sector in Syria by helping IT literacy through the meetings of exhibitors and visitors and to be a window to provide the latest innovations in the field of informatics.
