Syrian internal opposition figures praised Russia’s positive role in national reconciliation

The Syrian internal political opposition groups have released a statement following a meeting held Wednesday by the groups in Damascus with the participation of 52 opposition figures to discuss what happened in Geneva talks last month.

The participants in the meeting positively described the national principles to which the internal opposition delegation to Geneva talks adhered, according to the statement, which indicated the delegation’s adherence to the Syrian-Syrian solution and internal dialogue

The statement added that the participants agreed to thank Russia for its positive role in pushing talks forwards in accordance with the Vienna communique and the UN. Resolution No.2254.

The opposition figures also praised Russia’s positive role in national reconciliation, the Damascus-based al-Watan newspaper reported yesterday.

Representatives of the National Democratic Action Committee, the Syrian Arab Peace Party, the National Development Party, the Democratic National Front, the Secular Democratic Movement, the Syrian Democratic Party and the People’s Party signed the statement.
