Promising national talents displayed at the Republic Track and Field Championship

Damascus – Participant athletes faced some really tough competition at the Republic Track and Field Championship, that was held Friday and wrapped up today.

Coming from various provinces, more than 200 male and female athletes took part in the Championship, which was held at Tishreen Sport City in Damascus.

 

The first places in the men’s competitions were as follows: Abdulrahman al-Omar in 110m hurdles and high jump, Mohammad Diab in 400m hurdles, Ahd al-Saleh in 100m dash, Huzaifeh Hajlan in 400m dash and triple jump, Mohammad al-Hajji in 800m race, Ahmad Ibrahim in 1500m run, Yaser Hamadeh in 3000m steeplechase, Mohammad al-Akr in 10km race walk, Mohammad Malla Khalaf in long jump, Musaab Eisha in shot put, Fayssal al-Salem in javelin and Saleh Steif in hammer throw.

In junior men’s completions, the first places went to the following: Mohammad Badrkhan in 110 m hurdles, Murhaf Z’eir in 400m hurdles and 400m dash, Mohammad Naji al-Khufri in 100m dash, Mohammad Wassouf in 800m race, Abdul-Qader Alam-Eddin in high jump, Keorke Khorozian in triple jump and long jump, Abdullah Halawanji in pole-vault, Abdullah Kahil in shot put, Haidar Ahmad in javelin and Osama Ghuneim in hammer throw.

In women’s competitions, the first places were earned by: Nour al-Sous in 100m hurdles and long jump, Yara Fares in 100m dash, Ghufran Mohammad in 400m dash, Rahaf Salameh in triple jump and high jump, Khuloud Farousi in pole-vault , Hiba Omar in shot put, Hala Ghia in javelin and Lina Abdo in hammer throw.

In junior women’s competitions, the first places went to: Alaa Laila in 100m dash and 400m hurdles, Aya Ibrahim in 100m dash, Mirna Suleiman in 400m dash, Laurice Danoun in 800m race and 1500m run, Fatima Rayya in 3000m steeplechase, Aya Abbas in 5 km race walk, Rima Jaafar in triple jump and long jump, Simone al-Shoufi in shot put, Mais Barhoum in javelin and Enas al-Amoud in hammer throw.

Member of the Track and Field Union Bilal al-Halabi said the athletes displayed high levels of performance and skills, SANA reported.

The Championship, he said, achieved its aim in terms of spotting talents and potentials, as many of the top athletes will be named to join the national teams and take part in regional and international events.
