MUSCAT, (ST)- Mufti of the Syrian Arab Republic Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun on Wednesday met with Oman’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yousef Bin Alawi and Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Abdullah al-Salemi.
The Mufti’s talks with Omani officials in Muscat focused on the crisis in Syria, the Syrian Arab army’s victories in the battle against terrorism and the process of local reconciliation in the country.
On Tuesday, during his meeting with the Oman’s Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs Fahd Bin Mahmoud Al-Saeed, Hassoun spoke in details about the crisis in Syria and the global conspiracy targeting the country.
Oman’s Support for Syria Hailed
He highly appreciated the honorable stances of Oman in support of the Syrian state and people in the face of terrorism and hailed the Sultanate’s moderate policies and positive role in tackling Arab and Islamic issues.
On his part, the Omani deputy premier stressed his country’s support for all efforts aiming to attain stability in Syria.
The two sides discussed the role that can be played by Moslem scholars in clarifying Islam’s real image and its eternal message to enhance fraternity and tolerance among peoples of the world. They stressed the importance of boosting understanding and dialogue among cultures and communities as to enhance noble values and coexistence in a world where violence has no place and where peace and security prevail.
