Indian “Bharat” Company Resumes Work in Syria

 

Damascus, (ST) – Indian “Bharat” Company  yesterday resumed its work in Tishreen Thermal Power Plant, southeast of Damascus after a three –year  stop.

 “The resumption of work at the Tishreen Plant came after deep discussions between the concerned bodies at Ministry of Electricity and officials in “Bharat” Company to overcome all the difficulties that hampered the work over the past years and provided all necessary facilities,” a source in the Ministry of Electricity said to local press.

 “The company will follow up the implementation of the items of the contract signed with the Ministry of Electricity to expand Tishreen Plant through the installation of two motorcycles for electricity generation, the capacity of each one is 200 MW working on fuel and gas, whereas the total capacity, which will be added to the Syrian electrical system, will reach of 400 MW. The Indian company began the  implementation of the project  in 2010,” the source added.

 

The source also pointed out that the first group is expected to put into service during November 2018 and the second group in March 2019.

Despite of the current situation in Syria,  the Ministry of Electricity is following the completion of electrical development projects, whereas this project is the fourth of the total projects currently under implementation, including the establishment of hydroelectric power stations to meet the increasing demand for this important sector.
