9 breaches of cessation of hostilities during past 24 hours

Lattakia  – The past 24 hours witnessed new breaches by terrorist organizations of the cessation of hostilities in Syria on its 8th day, SANA reported.

The cessation of hostilities in Syria came in implementation of a Russian- US agreement which was adopted unanimously by the UN Security Council in accordance with its resolution No. 2268.

 

Head of the Russian Center for coordinating and monitoring the cessation of hostilities in Syria, Lieutenant General Sergei Kurylenko said in a statement published on RT website on Saturday that nine breaches of the cessation of hostilities were monitored during the past 24 hours, including six breaches in Aleppo province and one breach in each of Damascus, Lattakia and Daraa.

Kurylenko explained that Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization bombed al-Sheikh Maqsoud, al-Sheikh Aqeel, Kastelo and al-Marj residential neighborhoods in Aleppo.

Until Friday, the Russian Center for Coordination had monitored 123 breaches of cessation of hostilities by terrorist organizations which were mostly focused in Damascus, Aleppo and Lattakia.

On the other hand, the Russian military official pointed out that leaders of the groups who signed the cessation of hostilities agreement are now asking the Russian Center to provide protection and security from ISIS terrorists and other terrorist organizations that declared war against the signatories, affirming that the Russian Defense Ministry will help to ensure their safety.

Gen. Kurylenko said that the Center’s professionals held 23 meetings with representatives of various Syrian opposition parties and political forces, adding that he received requests from eight leaders of armed groups in Daraa to join the cessation of hostilities agreement during the past few days.

The cessation of hostilities in Syria does not include ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other organizations listed on the list of international terrorism.
